A Yogurt Protein Breakfast

A Yogurt Protein Breakfast

Kitchens should always be stocked with yogurt and granola.

Start your day with a light breakfast with a lot of protein. It’s filling and helps fight cravings for snacks and sweets. Prepare a bowl of Greek yogurt, mix a teaspoon of honey in, and top with granola.

Holiday desserts, comfort food, and special breakfast entrees (usually with bread) easily increase the pounds and stretch the waist bands. By the time January rolls around, it’s time for a Daniel’s Fast or at least to cut back on foods loaded with calories and carbs.

Choose a vanilla flavored Greek yogurt, or get a plain yogurt and add a little honey to it. It’s quite tasty.

Now add a granola topping to that, and it’s like having breakast with a treat included. Purchase the Nature Valley Protein Crunchy Granola that has 10 grams of protein.

Nature Valley has other delicious flavors such as oats and dark chocolate and a cranberry almond.

Great Value Greek Yogurt (plain, non-fat) has 23 grams of protein. (Brown Cow GMO plain yogurt has 15 grams of protein, and Chobani has 13). Great Value’s yogurt combined with granola amounts to 33 grams of protein. That’s a lot of protein for early in the day, but is it too much? That depends on how you eat the rest of the day. The amount of protein would increase greatly if you eat meat for lunch and dinner. Moderation is the key.

A look at the nutritional value of protein indicates that an increase in protein can help with metabolism, reduce calorie intake and appetite. Read more about protein intake at authoritynutrition.com.

  2. I love granola and yogurt. It’s a very good combination. I love the idea of increasing the protein in the yogurt and the granola
