Ribeye steaks with mushrooms is one of the easiest meals I’ve ever made in my pressure cooker. The following tips help to make the meat turn out tender and not too tough.

Instructions for Cooking Ribeye Steaks & Mushrooms in the Pressure Cooker

  1. Thaw frozen ribeye steaks in the refrigerator for 24 hours.
  2. Take the steaks out of the refrigerator before you begin your food prep. Room-temperature steaks take less time to cook than if they’re cold.
  3. Since the mushrooms will be seasoned, don’t season the steaks.
  4. Now set up the pressure cooker, and turn it on.
  5. Turn the pressure cooker on the sear-roast method, and leave the lid off.
  6. While the pressure cooker is heating up, it’s time to wash the mushrooms and season them.
  7. When the pressure cooker’s timer for the sear-roast mode is ready and hot, add the oil. By this time, the steaks should have come to room temperature (about 20 minutes).
  8. Use tongs to sear all sides of the steaks until they are browned.
  9. Add the mushrooms.
  10. Close the lid, and cook for eight to ten minutes.

Ribeye steaks can also be cooked in a slow cooker. Check out Ribeye Steaks in the Slow Cooker on this blog for the recipe.

My husband occasionally grills our ribeyes, but I like how quick and easy it is to cook the ribeyes in my pressure cooker. I made this specifically for a kids’ macaroni recipe.

Storing Ribeye Steak Strips

After the ribeyes and mushrooms were done, I sliced the steak into strips. Then I put the steak and mushrooms in separate containers. They were ready to be stored in the refrigerator (I couldn’t resist tasting, though – YUM).

You can find these containers at Walmart, or order them on Amazon. Use storage containers for your little ones. Colorful ones like these make lunches and dinners more fun:

Make the ribeye and mushrooms as a simple meal, or serve it with your favorite side vegetables.

Incidentally, the steak and mushrooms (along with a little of the natural juice) would go great over a slice of toast.

  2. Do not season the steaks.
  3. Set up pressure cooker, plug it in, open the lid, and turn on sear-roast method.
  4. As the pressure cooker heats up, take your mushrooms out of the refrigerator and wash them in a colander.
  5. Season the mushrooms with the All Purpose Seasoning (or use your own favorite seasoning for mushrooms).
  6. When the pressure cooker sear-roast mode timer goes off, letting you know it's hot and ready for cooking, add the tablespoon of oil.
  7. Keep the lid off, and sear the steaks one at a time, holding them with tongs until each side has browned.
  8. Now add the seasoned mushrooms.
  9. Close the lid and lock it.
  10. Cook on the sear-roast mode, and time the cooking for ten minutes (the lowest my pressure cooker will cook on this timed method is ten minutes).
  11. When the pressure cooker gets to eight minutes, turn the sear-roast mode off and change it to the warming mode.
  12. Warm for at least two minutes, then press the steam release button (be sure the pressure cooker is pointed away from you as you release the steam).
  13. Open the pressure cooker lid, and place the meat onto a plate.
  14. Pour the liquid into a container with a lid.
  15. The liquid (natural steak juices and any remaining oil) should amount to about 3/4 cup.
  16. Now take out mushrooms, and place them into a separate container with a lid (My mushrooms measured 3/4 cup.)
  17. Serve the steaks with mushrooms on top, and pour as much of the liquid as you like over the mushrooms and steak.
  18. Or serve the steaks with the mushrooms on the side.

Notes

Optional: Prepare mashed potatoes as another side, and use the natural juice as a gravy for the potatoes. Optional: Slice the steak into strips, and serve over rice or in a salad.

Pressure Cookers Make Complete Meals Easy and Quick

Pressure cookers make it easier for busy home cooks. Prepare a complete meal for the family in a short time.

Consider purchasing an electric pressure cooker if you haven’t yet added one to your kitchen appliances. My Farberware pressure cooker is like the one pictured below. It includes a slow cooker cooking mode.

Ribeye Steaks and Much More Can be Cooked in a Cast Iron Pan

Ribeye steaks can also be cooked in a cast iron pan. Most of my home-cooked meals are cooked either in my cast iron skillet or my pressure cooker. They are both easy to cook a meal in.

My food blogger friend at pattycakespantry.com introduced me to the ease of cooking a quick meal in the electric pressure cooker. She convinced me that I needed one – and she was right!

I cook more in my pressure cooker than any other kitchen appliance. That is, with the exception of my cast iron skillet like the one in the Amazon picture below. However, mine didn’t come with a lid. I use a vintage red lid inherited from my mother’s kitchen.

Take a few moments to check out the complete meal ideas at Patty Cakes’. Every recipe I’ve tried from Patty Cakes did not disappoint. Look especially at her yummy-looking Cheeseburger Pie cooked in a cast iron pan and the easy Pressure Cooker Ribs.

If you’re not in a hurry and don’t need such a quick meal but want it ready when you get home from work, try my Slow Cooker Pork Riblets.

One more thing: grab my air fryer ribeye recipe if you’d like to cook ribeyes quickly.

Come back soon to see the kids’ Ribeye Mac & Cheese recipe. In the meantime, though, you can sneak a peek of what it looks like on my Instagram photo.

Thank you so much for visiting Kitchen Southern Hospitality, and I hope you’ll come back again soon.
