I made this next recipe with fresh strawberries from the farmers market. After purchasing them, I went grocery shopping and decided to pick up buttermilk – NOT one of my usual commodities to keep on hand.

Buttermilk is a healthy drink. At least, that’s what my dad always believed. If anyone got stomach flu in our family, he firmly believed buttermilk would take care of it. But it wouldn’t work for me because I couldn’t stand the taste of it. One time he said, “Just taste it.”

I tasted. Gagged. Thought it was going to make me sick.

The funny thing is that the very same buttermilk that tasted awful to me by itself tasted good with certain recipes. It’s good in puddings, and I like to add it to a few of my shake recipes.

I’ll share my Strawberry Buttermilk Shake recipe with you. Read up on its health benefits. Actually, I have read that buttermilk helps with bad stomach bacteria. There are benefits to drinking it. When I drink this yummylicious shake, not only am I enjoying good buttermilk but also fresh delicious strawberries – and the incredible Shakeology.

A note about Shakeology: this nutritious dietary supplement has made a difference for me. When I learned about it, I was looking for help with digestion and was needing to lose some weight. Including Shakeology in my daily eating plan began to change the way I eat as well as help with my digestion problem. In fact, I started noticing that sugar cravings were not bad anymore. That got my attention because I loved sweets. I still do, but I don’t crave them anymore. In addition, I’ve lost weight and work out now.

If you’re desperate like I was to feel better, lose weight, and get fit, consider Shakeology’s various tasty flavors.

Okay, ready for that yummy buttermilk drink?

Strawberry Almond Buttermilk

A nutritious strawberry drink mixed with buttermilk

Ingredients

  • 6 strawberries
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened vanilla-flavored almond milk
  • 1/2 cup distilled water
  • 2 packets sugar substitute
  • 6 ice cubes
  • 1 scoop vanilla Shakeology

Love the taste of buttermilk and creamy shakes that taste more like malts? Increase the amount of buttermilk to 1/2 cup and either leave out the water altogether or only add 1/4 cup water.

Strawberries and buttermilk are great summer foodie items to keep in the fridge. They give desserts an extra sweet-tart richness.

3-Ingredient Night Strawberry Snack

Strawberries and buttermilk

Ingredients

  • 4 large strawberries
  • 1/8 cup buttermilk
  • 1 packet sugar substitute

Recipe Notes

When you've had your daily Shakeology and all of your nutrition count for the day but want a snack, have strawberries and buttermilk. One cup of buttermilk has nine grams of protein. This is a very light recipe and only has 1/8 cup buttermilk, only about 1 gram of protein. Double or triple the recipe if you're needing more fruit and other protein.

Can you tell I LOVE strawberries? I like to try out different recipes with them and hope you enjoy the ones I’ve shared in this blog post. Incidentally, Shakeology offers a strawberry flavor – and it is good.
