Easy Steak & Potato Meal for Two

Invite a friend over, and prepare a simple chuck steak and potato slow cooker dinner. One steak is all you need unless you and your friend are big eaters.

A writer friend, Barbara, and I started something called a write-in. That’s when two or more writers get together for writing accountability. We met at her home and set a timer to write for two segments of fifty minutes with a fifteen-twenty minute break in between.

Barbara is a watercolor artist as well as a very good cook. She was working on a how-to book in her watercolor series when we began the write-ins. You can visit her website at https://barbaraparish.weebly.com/ for more information on how to learn to paint with watercolors.

On one of our write-in occasions, she surprised me with a steak slow cooker meal for lunch afterward. We were both writing books and working hard to meet deadlines. I couldn’t resist peeking during the break to see what was cooking. Four potatoes and a steak.

The nice thing about cooking four potatoes for two people is you can have leftovers. Barbara and I only ate one potato each that day. She saved half of her steak half (yep, that means I ate ALL of my half😉) for lunch the next day.

How to prepare the potatoes

Barbara seasoned the steak perfectly, and she has a great way to cook the potatoes. She cuts the end off and hits them hard three times with a sharp knife to break the skin. That way, the potatoes don’t explode. Pretty cool, huh?

Cooking steak in a slow cooker is a great option for busy writers, work-at-home moms, or any other home chef on a hectic schedule.

What other steaks can you cook in a slow cooker?

Often, I cook steaks (especially my favorite, ribeyes) in my slow cooker at home and occasionally in the big rig my husband drives.

Chuck, ribeye, and sirloin steaks can taste wonderful when slow-cooked. I’ve tried all three in my small slow cooker at home, and they turned out great. I either wrap them in foil after seasoning them or put them in a slow cooker bag.

One of my favorite slow cooker ribeye meals was seasoned with mesquite tea.

You can also cook vegetables with the steak like you would with a roast. Try cooking your favorite steak in a slow cooker. It can truly free up extra time on a busy day and a ready-to-eat dinner to boot.
