Make these easy big game day dip recipes. They’ll go great with chips for any occasion you’re serving snacks.

Fruit Dip
Pistachio Dip for Blueberries & Bananas

Want some super easy dips to make for Sunday’s game?

Try these quick recipes. I’ll start with my favorite, a Pistachio Dip that is great for dipping bananas and blueberries. If you have any of this dip left over, you’ll want a spoon to devour the rest as a pudding. Here are the ingredients to make it:

  • 1/2 Carton Plain Greek Yogurt
  • 1 Small Box Low Fat, Sugar Free Pistachio Pudding Mix
  • 1 Cup 2% Milk

First, mix the pudding mix and the milk. Then blend in the yogurt, and mix well. Option: For a whole carton of yogurt, you’ll need another cup of milk. I made this for a friend, and she LOVED it!

Spicy Hummus

This is one of those spur-of-the-moment recipe creations. I had a carton of Hummus but wanted to mix it with something spicy and just happened to have some Sriracha in the frig. It was a keeper. Perfect for dipping pita or multigrain chips.

2 Tablespoons of Sriracha Hot Chili Sauce

1 Carton Roasted Red Pepper or Garlic Hummus

Mix well, and it’s ready for dipping your chips and veggies.

Mayo Dip for Ham Slices

My friends got me hooked on this. Every time they’ve invited us over when there was ham, this dip would be on the table.

1 Cup Mayo

1 Tablespoon (or more if you like) Honey or Plain Mustard

Mix well, and dip ham slices or ham sandwiches in. If your budget is low, use it as a cracker or potato chip dip.

Creamy Bean Dip

1 Can Refried Beans

1 Small carton sour cream

1 Small package grated sharp cheddar cheese

Heat beans, and stir in cheese until melted. Mix the sour cream in, and you’ve got a dip for corn chips.

Creamy Picante Dip

1 Jar Hot Picante Sauce

1 Package cream cheese

Options: add grated cheese and/or black olives

Soften cream cheese until it’s easy to stir. Mix Picante sauce in with the cream cheese until blended well. Get creative with this one, and add any of the options listed or of your choice.

Another creamy dip that is good with chips, crackers, wraps and burritos is my Greek Yogurt DipIt’s amazing what dips you can come up with when you start mixing in your favorite specialty oils, vinegars, sauces. Try an egg or tuna salad dip. Instead of making an egg or tuna sandwich, create a dip for crackers.

Did You Know?

One of my treasured cookbooks is the Snake, Rattle & Ro*Tel cookbook by Crazy Sam Higgins. There’s a story that goes with why I favor this little recipe book. It was given to my mother by my dad’s World War II and Office of Strategic Services (OSS) comrade, Francis Knapp. Francis and Dad were young supervisors in the secret OSS in Paris, France. They told me their stories of what it was like to work in the OSS, and the book,

Phantom Seven, was published. The book includes the story of how “Ro*Tel” became popular. Diced tomatoes and green chilies mixed with cheese mixed with a can of evaporated milk has been a favorite dip I’ve served for many years.

There you go! These are some of the easiest dips to make, and they go great with crackers, chips, veggies, and fruit.

Don’t Forget the Bread

Scones can be one of the easiest sweet breads to make for a snacks menu. See my easy Raisin Breakfast Scone recipe that can also be used for blueberries or orange scones.

Enjoy the food – and the game!

Thank you. Yes, I think the plain yogurt could be used instead of the sour cream. However, I prefer the flavor of sour cream with the bean dip.

  2. These dip recipes all sound so good. Do you think the bean dip would work with the addition of plain yogurt instead of sour cream?
