Super Bowl Foods: Cut the Calories but not the Taste

Start your grocery list now for your Super Bowl food favorites. Organizing the home has been the hot topic of January, but you can also organize your weekly grocery lists and recipes, however. Now is a good time, too, because Super Bowl is coming up soon. Super Bowl Sunday, according to an article on huffingtonpost.com, is the second-largest food consumption day of the year. Think about that for a minute.

What have you planned for your Super Bowl menu? Pizza? Wings? Chips and dip? Consider making the dip you love but with lighter calories. Create a nutritious dip with Quinoa.

Imagine the amount of calories Americans eat in one afternoon on Super Bowl Sunday. Calories quickly add up. For instance, I like gluten-free blueberry waffles and sausage patties found in the frozen section at the grocery store. One serving of waffles amounts to two waffles, about 210 calories. Same thing with the sausages. Two of them add up to 270 calories. It’s easy for me to take two of each. One of each tastes just as good, though, and is half the calories.

Instead of totally skipping the foods you enjoy during Super Bowl, consider consuming only half the calories. Go ahead and have that pizza, but just eat the topping and not the bread. You’ll have much less bloating. Sounds crazy? Maybe, but not if you really want to enjoy Super Bowl food cravings without the extra calories, fats, and carbs.

  1. I’m not a football fan, but I love super bowl parties, especially the food. Buffalo chicken dip is a favorite of mine. It goes great with celery. Will you be posting the recipe for the quinoa dip? I’m intrigued by the idea.
